About HANA Biosciences
Hana Biosciences, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company with Headquarters in Northern California, dedicated to developing and commercializing new, differentiated cancer therapies designed to improve and enable current standards of care.
Challenge
Due to rapid growth, HANA was forced to relocate their offices to a larger facility in a short period of time, while still providing both front and back office computing capabilities to their research teams without interruption and downtime.
At the same time, the planned move-to facility needed to be evaluated for optimum wireless point coverage and reception, server room/core component locations, cubical settings, electrical outlets and corresponding network port locations. The project needed to be managed and coordinated from planning to implementation with vendors ranging from electrical, cabling, furniture builders, wireless, building management and circuit connector/service providers, with the goal of immediate and fully integrated computer access for all HANA employees following the day of the move.
Solution
Netswitch provided complete project management for the entire move and coordinated the installation for the circuits, cabling, server room, and all hardware and software including voice/ data switches, routers, servers, wireless access points / controller, ups backup power, and server cabinet. All work was completed within plan and budget targets.
In addition, Netswitch implemented a new and fully integrated One World IT Infrastructure platform which included embedded security protection, an MS SharePoint server based intranet portal for collaboration, a Virtual Private Network for secured access for mobile devices and a secure firewall to protect their network from unauthorized internet access. Netswitch also began providing 24/7 help-desk and technical support services.
Value
Through Netswitch’s IT Relocation services, HANA was able to execute the physical relocation of their critical IT resources, while providing immediate and complete access to their computing facilities for their employees, and focus their efforts on their core business competencies. As a by-product of the move, HANA was able to upgrade their mobile support and improve their Internet and data security.
