Oakland International Airport (OAK) is a public airport south of the central business district of Oakland, a city in Alameda County, California. It is owned by the Port of Oakland.
OAK is one of three international airports in the San Francisco Bay Area. Airlines serving Oakland International provide service to numerous destinations in the United States, as well as Europe and Mexico.
OAK is a focus airport—with the airport as a crew base and the 10th busiest—for Southwest Airlines.
Challenge
In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, Oakland recognized the need to ensure that its airline support and logistics systems were operated with the highest possible uptime and response characteristics and turned to Netswitch to provide an engineering and support team.
Solution
Netswitch built a team of 12 engineers who provided 1st level maintenance support services 24/7 for network connectivity, hardware functionality, and application functionality on-site at the Oakland International Airport (OAK) Terminals One and Two and for all relevant Common Systems points in-between.
This team also supported all of the Common Systems Architecture, the Airport Special Systems Architecture, the Airport network infrastructure, and all of its component parts.
These systems are fundamental to insure that all airlines have functional applications running 24/7 on every one of their platforms including ticketing, claims management and baggage handling.
Netswitch’s team of engineers was able to provide that level of support in accord with their service level agreement of 99.9999% uptime throughout the entire airport systems supply chain.
